Keeping Your Patio Tiles Clean and Weed Free
Now that it’s getting a bit sunnier outside, we wanted to share a helpful method for maintaining your patio. With a simple mixture, you can effectively manage the weeds between your patio tiles.
Spring is just around the corner. We are (finally) drawn back into the garden. Enjoying the sun on the patio? That sounds fantastic, of course… but then our eyes wander over the tiles and flower beds: weeds everywhere! They need to be removed. Of course, there are some common approaches, such as pouring hot potato water over the tiles and weeds… or spending hours plucking and scratching. But before you resort to more laborious methods, we have an effective and straightforward solution for you. This approach can help you clear weeds from your patio, is environmentally conscious, and easy to use. We’ll detail the ingredients and steps on the next page.
In addition to the cleaning method described, it is important not to neglect regular maintenance. A clean and tidy exterior of your home starts with the patio. It is the showpiece and a place to relax and get together. By sweeping regularly and removing leaves and dirt, you can reduce the build up of weeds and keep your patio inviting. The cleaning method detailed below can be a great addition to your regular maintenance routine.
What you need:
5 tablespoons of soda
5 tbsp green soap (also known as soft soap)
10 liters of hot water
This is what you need to do:
Dissolve the green soap and soda in a large bucket with the 10 liters of hot water. Pour everything evenly over the entire terrace and scrub the tiles with a hard broom. Leave everything to work well and rinse everything off with water after approx. 10 minutes. This can help you achieve a clear view again without extensive scraping.
Please note: local plant protection laws may apply and should be observed. Find out about this locally before you set to work. It is also advisable to wear gloves when using this method and to ensure that the solution does not get onto adjacent beds or lawns so as not to damage other plants. This will help keep your patio clean and protect your garden at the same time.
